The Big Cat Sanctuary is the ‘Waitrose’ of Zoos in the UK. They are a registered animal charity whose aim is to contribute to global conservation.

Home to over 40 cats spanning 11 different species, many classed as more than vulnerable to the risk of extinction on the IUCN red list.

The BCS is a true sanctuary – its goal to provide peace and tranquility and the best possible habitat for these endangered and iconic cats  in captivity.

Well respected. Public adored. The Big Cat Sanctuary is the gold standard in Big Cat Welfare and renowned globally.

In 2021, Antinol® UK’s Partnerships Manager Chloe White RVN saw the potential for Antinol® in the UK cat market, but understood the need for an independent study to showcase the beneficial effects of EFA’s in cats.  Big and Small.

She identified the BCS as the pinnacle of Big Cat Welfare in the UK, and worked with a fellow RVN Matt Rendell to put together an idea for the BCS.

In order for the study to have weight, it needed to be truly independent, so together they approached Liverpool John Moores University and Professor Jon Bielby (School of Biological & Environmental Sciences) to see if they would undertake the study and a few months later, student Matt Norfolk took on the study for his undergraduate degree.

Since the study was made public, there has been an increased interest in Antinol® among the vet community.

We have also received registrations of interest from the following, hoping to trial Antinol within their facilities:

  • San Francisco Zoo
  • West Midlands Safari Park
  • Paradise Wildlife Park, Hertfordshire

NOTE: in order to maintain the integrity of the study and its independence, we do not refer to any collaboration between Antinol and the BCS/Liverpool John Moores study.
